IPL 2014 on Sony Set MAX
The IPL broadcasting rights for the tournament in India has been given to SONY entertainment television. They got IPL broadcasting rights for 10 years @ Rs 8,700 crore or US$ 1.94 billion. IPL season were started broadcasting in Sony Set MAX channel. Sony Set Max has been showcasting IPL from the inaugural edition till now. The Indian Premier League has proved to be a magnet for spiking television viewership for the last six years.
Sony Entertainment Television has won the official broadcasting rights for the Indian Premier League and its channel Sony Max has been the sole broadcaster for IPL during the first 5 years. For the sixth season in 2013, Sony Six and Sony Six HD also joined Sony Max as the IPL Broadcasters.

Multi Screen Media which owns the Sony Entertainment Television will broadcast the IPL season for another 3 years. After the 10 years it will be a tough competiton between Sony and Star group.
On April 1, 2011, Rogers Sportsnet announced that it signed a four year exclusive deal in Canada to broadcast 36 group stage matches, 3 playoff matches and 1 championship match on Rogers Sportsnet One.
The top three teams from the IPL 2014 tournament will qualify for the 2014 Champions League Twenty20. Due to the new playoff format, the qualifying teams will be the top two teams of the group stage and the winner of Game B in the playoff stage. Its brand value was estimated to be around $4.13 billion the same year. According to global sports salaries review, IPL is the second highest-paid league, based on first-team salaries on a pro rata basis, second only to the NBA.
